*** CRITICAL NEED FOR FOSTER HOMES ***

A hearing with the City of Goliad was held Monday, January 12, 2026 regarding the continued operation of Dog House Art House (DHAH). We were given 90 days to disperse our current population with no further intakes.

We are actively looking for property to relocate our rescue outside of the Goliad city limits; preferably 5-20 acres with water and electricity. Moving is hard and takes time. If you know of acreage for sale or would consider donating land, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Most of our dogs have never known the comforts of a home, the whurrr of a dishwasher, the coziness of a dog bed or the aroma of waffles on an easy Sunday morning. We have LOTS of puppies and smaller dogs that wouldn’t take up much space in your home, but would immensely benefit from a home environment. Foster homes help puppies learn important social skills. Fostering adult dogs gives them the time to recover from their previous life on the mean streets.

We have only 90 days to reduce the number of puppies and dogs at Dog House Art House. We are in critical need of foster homes to save the lives of the animals in our care and reduce the burden on the rescue during this difficult time. Fostering is a short commitment and you get to help a homeless puppy or dog find their forever home. Please be a helper! Contact us if you are interested in our foster program.

OUR STORY:

DogHouse ArtHouse was unoffically founded in 1999. In September 2022 we became a non-profit 501c3, we depend 100% on donations and receive no help from the City, County or State. Our goal is to heal the dogs in our care, place them in loving homes and educate people about the importance of spaying and neutering. Every animal deserves a safe and loving place to call home.

Patricia Compton is a Goliad, TX artist and the founder of DogHouse ArtHouse, animal rescue and art studio. Patricia says her painting career “went to the dogs" when she picked up her first abandoned dog off the steps of the Presidio La Bahia in Goliad. Patricia's love and compassion for the underdog turned into 25 years of rescues, rehabilitations and the rehoming of hundreds of puppies and dogs into loving homes.

With the help of her friends and supporters in the rescue community, Patricia is determined to get something built in Goliad “reflective of art, dogs, rescue and education on both subjects.”
